This weekend was rocking

Friday night was a typical kumite night but we had Terry there for the second time since he moved to Pretoria.

Wesley was moving well & gave me something to work with as I find myself in a comfort zone when doing kumite with this class. Obviously Terry gave everything & this really made me work.

Saturday morning was a class for the brain & body.

We started with stances! (who would have guessed?)
We rolled up our gi pants to have a good look at what our legs are doing in motion, during the stances & during take off. The guys were very amazed at the amount of work our muscles are doing. This training aid ensures one understands what is going on & also ensures that we push harder & there is something physical to measure it by.

We then went on to Taikyoku Shodan. Working on maximum contraction & expansion & also kime. Then the games began…

We did it with only one step… The starting step to the left, from there we shifted between facing left & right (as the kata does) in one position…
First gedan barai with a step left, then oi-zuki is a shift in stance (same location) very similar to the punches in Unsu, then same hand gedan barai ensuring maximum hanmi & then turn / shift into oi zuki on the other side (left) & then again gedan barai (same hand) & then 3 shifting oi zuki’ s… & so forth.

We then did it with a rewind effect but in normal movements:
Yoi, move 1 – gedan barai left leg, then back to yoi, then move 1 & 2 – gedan barai to the left, step over oi zuki, then back to move one – gedan barai, then move 2 & 3 – oi zuki & turn gedan barai then back to oi zuki… & so forth we continued.

Actually this is such a nice class I will repeat it tonight at our holiday class.

Saturday evening Sherilee & I went to Zia (Sherilee’s sister) & Jay’s night club, CCHQ – Classic Corner Head Quarters. It has many antiques every where & a jamming vibe! It is a must see to believe what is going on in there. There is just too much for me to explain. Thank you to Jay & Zia for hosting us that night! Was absolutely awesome!

Go check out their “my space” page on: http://www.myspace.com/cchq

If you have not been there, take the time to do so!!!
